About the Owners

Newington Place Guesthouse is the latest addition to the extensive accommodation collection run and operated by the Cape St Francis Resort in the Eastern Cape.  Owners Fasie and Fiona Malherbe are both well-seasoned travellers who, over the years, have successfully acquired and operated numerous 4 and 5 star accommodation establishments, among them renowned The Cape St Francis Resort, luxurious Casa Malcampo in Mozambique and the exclusive Villa Tapenade on the island of Lastovo in Croatia.

Newington Place is the newest establishment to grace their portfolio of properties and brings with it the years of knowledge and experience that the couple have garnered in the hospitality industry.

The recently renovated Newington Place draws its sophisticated flair from Fiona’s artistic eye with much of the furnishings been hand sourced from Burma and the colour palette mixing soothing shades of creams, blues, greens and greys, similar to the light and breezy décor she chose for the Cape St Francis Resort.

Dark antique wood is offset beautifully against neutral backgrounds and unexpected flashes of colour in the pieces of art that adorn the guesthouse.  Art is another of Fiona’s passions and during her years of travel she has acquired numerous interesting and unique pieces, many of which now rest beautifully at Newington Place.

The Malherbe family is a close knit one with many of their family members involved in the business and this personal attachment can be felt when staying at any of their accommodation establishments as nothing is standard and no ask is too big.  Whether you are merely overnighting at the guest house or using it as a base to explore Port Elizabeth and its surrounds, the staff of Newington Place will be able to assist you with tour information, directions and special places of interest while ensuring that all their guest’s needs are fulfilled.  Enjoy your stay Newington Place -offering privacy and luxury without being stuffy or ostentatious and ensuring the ultimate in comfort and contentment.
